Color Dare #245 ~ Lemon, Tangerine, Blossom, Thistle, Glacier, Lagoon, with Black & White

This is the final color dare for May so that means we're challenging you with all the colors in the Little Dreamer paper pack. Don't worry you only have to chose 4 colors (excluding neutrals) for your creation. Full details are in the post on our home page.

I made this layout for an upcoming birthday for one of our granddaughters. It suits her perfectly and I can't wait for her to add photos of her choice. I used a sketch to get started and after that it was easy!

May Live Beautifully Challenge

As May winds down so does our month long Live Beautifully Challenge. For this special challenge we're asking you to use the colors featured in the Live Beautifully papers. Full details are in the post on the Color My Heart home page.

I decided to make a layout showing the masculine side of this paper pack. About half of the papers are very neutral and work well for masculine projects. This layout is based on one by Jennifer Smith. I've tweaked it a bit though. The colors may be a bit hard to see in the photos because they're on the light side.

All products are Close To My Heart:
  • Live Beautifully paper pack and stamp set (only available May 1-31, 2017)
  • Cardstock: White Daisy, Black
  • Exclusive Inks: Black
  • Black and White Dots
  • Journal Pen
If you need a consultant I'd be happy to help.
If you'd like to BE a consultant I can help with that, too.

Now it's your turn to create and share! You don't need the Live Beautifully papers or stamp set to participate. Full details are on our home page

Have a creative day!

Seasonal Expressions 2 New Product Blog Hop

With the launch of our newest mini idea book, Seasonal Expressions 2 we do a hop showcasing new products. So sit back and be ready to see all kind of fun ideas!

If you've come from the blog of Alyson Mayo you're on the right path. Just keep clicking on the links in each post to go to the next blog or check out the list of participants at the end of this post.

I love flower stamps! Maybe because I can't grow them for real I love creating with them on paper! In my card you see one of our new flower stamps called Keep Dreaming. There are so many pretty flowers in this set! I also love color and in particular sunsets or blends of color. So I decided to use both for this card.

I first cut a stencil with my paper trimmer and a piece of paper. I put a couple dabs of glue stick on the back and let it dry. Now it's like a Post It note! I positioned a piece of White Daisy cardstock under the stencil and got busy sponging an blending. Next up I placed the sponged layer on the card front and stamped so the images would go onto both layers. Don't worry about that little bit it doesn't stamp where the layers meet as the mat will cover that up. It's really that easy! I stamped half of the sentiment on the front and the rest on the inside of the card. You can cut our stamp apart but when the letters are close together you can do it another way. I placed scotch tape over what I didn't want to stamp and inked it up. Before stamping be sure to take off the tape! Stamp and do the same for the other part of the sentiment. The final step was to give it a bit of sparkle with dots of the Clear Shimmer Brush. They look silver in the photo because of the flash.

All products are Close To My Heart:

  • White Cards and Envelopes Value Pack
  • Cardstock: White Daisy, Black

Color Dare #244 ~ Sea Glass, Canary, Juniper, Thistle with Black & White, Optional Silver

The Design Team at Color My Heart has a color challenge for you to try out. Each Friday we go live with a new color challenge we call a Color Dare. To participate in the Color Dare you need to use ALL and ONLY the colors unless otherwise stated. BUT if you don't have an exact color you can substitute something close. Full details on how to create and share are in the post on our home page.

I made this cute card using paper and zip borders from the Little Dreamer Workshop Your Way package.  I first stamped the unicorn and then used the Thin Cuts to cut it out. You can do it the reverse and stamp after cutting, but stamping first works better for me. The bottom strips are all from Zip Borders. These are the decorative edges on each sheet of pattern paper.  The heart is from the Compliments which is included in the Workshop Your Way as are the glitter gems. You can buy all these items individually or as a package in the WYW.
TIP: When adhereing something on top of glitter paper/tape it's best to use Liquid Glass or as I did here, Thin 3D Foam Tape.

The sketch I used was made by Michelle Stewart.

All products are Close To My Heart:
  • Little Dreamer Workshop Your Way
  • Little Dreamer Cardmaking Bundle
  • White Cards and Envelopes Value Pack
  • Exclusive Inks: Thistle, Glacier, Canary, Juniper
  • Embellishments: Silver Glitter Paper Journal Pen, Thin 3D Foam Tape
If you need a consultant I'd be happy to help.
If  you'd like to BE a consultant I can help with that, too.

Now it's your turn to create and share! It's easy and fun because we get you started by picking the colors for you. We LOVE to see your creations! Don't forget to check the post on our Color My Heart home page.

Have a great day!

May ~ Live Beautifully

How about another idea using the Live Beautifully papers? This time I decided to go in a totally masculine direction with my project. Yes you CAN make a masculine project with the Live Beautifully papers! Take a look!

What do you think? Pretty cool, eh! I had a Pennant Frame (retired) and made it up for one of my grandson's photos. Look what you can do when you use the papers without flowers! I used our Chalk Marker to make the road lines on the black and white stripe paper and that set the tone for the rest of the project! Take another look at the papers and see what you think. I bet you find even more uses for the projects floating in your head.

All products are Close To My Heart:
  • Pennant Frame (retired)
  • Racer Birthday stamp set
  • Live Beautifully paper pack
  • Exclusive Inks: Black, Sea Glass
  • Embellishments: Chalk Marker, Black & White Dots, Thin 3D Foam Tape
If you need a consultant I'd be happy to help.
If you'd like to BE a consultant I can help with that, too!

Are you inspired to create something and share? You don't have to have the papers to participate but you do need to use the colors seen in the paper. Details are in the post on our home page.

Have a great day!
Michelle

CTMH Technique Blog Hop - Embellishment Envy

Welcome to the Technique Blog Hop for May! Each month we feature a different technique for your paper crafting pleasure! This month we're featuring embellishments and the different ways to use them.

If you've come from the blog of Annemarie Julian you're on the right track. Just keep clicking the links in each post to continue on the hop.

I don't really have an "outside of the box" embellishment technique on this card, but I really love how it turned out overall and thought I'd share.

This is the stamp set from Live Beautifully, our May special. Stamping in black is kind of bold but the way it's embellished makes a big difference! I used the Gold Shimmer Brush to accent the petals of the flower mush as you'd do if you were painting with other colors. The gold is supposed to be mimicking the shadow part of the flower petals. I'd also included some Gold Glitter Gems and Gold Foil Tape to keep the theme going.

All products are Close To My Heart:
  • Live Beautifully stamp set
  • Live Beautifully Paper pack
  • Exclusive Inks: Black
  • Cardstock: White Daisy
  • White Cards and Envelopes Value pack
  • Embellishments: Gold Shimmer Pen, Gold Glimmer Gems, Gold Foil Tape, Thin 3D Foam Tape
If you need a consultant I'd be happy to help.
If you'd like to BE a consultant I can help with that, too.

Now it's time to over to the blog of Melissa Robinson for more inspiration!

Have a great day!
